Many people are focused on the stupidity of the recently abandoned rebranding efforts of Cracker Barrel Restaurants and Country Store. When the cancel culture attempted to eliminate the old dude, the ladder-back cane-bottom chair, and the cask of whiskey, they crossed a very deep line in the sand. The reaction was massive and visceral. They may have just as well attempted to eliminate all forms of Southern comfort food, NASCAR, and Jack Daniel’s Tennessee Whiskey. As a result of crossing that line, the company immediately lost the trust and support of the public, and especially the conservative south. But why? And why such a pushback? It became abundantly clear the public’s reaction had nothing to do with loving a logo or traditional branding scheme that everyone is accustomed to. It was a much deeper scheme that troubled many Americans.
The rebranding signaled a hidden spiritual sub-element. Only a false spirit can elicit such a reactive pushback. The public’s reaction exposed the failed attempt to erase the simple life that we often harken back to. A life that often hides our not so idyllic past history. But in doing so, the rebranding smacked of political correctness . . . and something worse in my book.
The use of a misappropriated, virtue-signaling effort lacking in spiritual discernment demonstrated ignorance related to the source of such a “virtuous” effort. Not only was Cracker Barrel on the precipice of their Bud Light marketing moment, but it was also clear they were attempting to make things right in their own eyes. What their vision failed to see is our American culture. The scheme from the prince of this age was quickly exposed.
Foundationally, our culture possesses a Christ following past of being in it together as a country, taking the good with the bad. And with all the recent attacks that are similar in nature, we now have our guards up. We now immediately recognize a cancel culture divisive scheme of the dominion of darkness . . . and we will have nothing of it. It doesn’t matter where one’s politics are coming from. When it is clear that our culture and history is being attacked, you will receive such a reaction.
This visceral reaction is what America is all about. You don’t hang with the cracker, but more importantly, you don’t let the devil kill that kind old (or possibly racist or possibly God-loving, God-fearing, and all people-loving) man either. That’s a political agenda. An uninformed and unwarranted attack. And our food and our past history don’t need to be politically weaponized to erase where America has come from in an attempt to guide where we should be going. We are free. And I am free indeed. Don’t mess with Uncle Cracker. He may just love you, all people, and love the Lord at a level that you have no possible way of understanding. I hope every American knows when to stand and defend that (pick one):
a. racist and outdated motherfucker;
b. kind, people loving, God fearing man of integrity who is a gentle soul who loves everyone.
As for me, I am defending them both against the dominion of darkness. And when the devil can see the things he can trap us on, we’re done as a nation. We need not give the devil a foothold. And as an American who has been set free, in this I pray, in Jesus’ name. Amen.
